I see this everywhere (online, at least - I'm from a country where handgun ownership isn't as common) and it's absolutely infuriating. Yes, in a magical world where every adult was not only armed but was a perfect shot and kept an absolutely calm head in a terrifying situation, a mass shooting could potentially be ended more quickly. But even in that magical world, the lives that would saved in those incidences would be vastly outnumbered in a single day with all the bar fights that would turn into gunfights, the domestic disputes that would end at the morgue instead of the hospital or police station, playground fights turned deadly, and accidents in the home. The only person to blame in these cases is the gunman. No one "deserves" to be shot for going unarmed or because their parents or teachers go unarmed, and to suggest otherwise is disgusting.

I mean, you've got to be some kind of fucking idiot to read my original post and decide you can demand open discussion and tolerance. Either that, or a liar playing dumb. So I guess the jury's still out on whether you're stupid or evil.
